    France Starts to Go into Debt
    Under rule of Louis XIV, Franc began to go into debt. He did nto care about the politics of his country. Instead, he spent his money on his wife, Mari Antoinette. This is important because it was a beginning role of what caused Louis to be a bad king.

    The third estate was wanted to have power. They were at first shut out oft he meeting that decided France's debt decisions. Once they got in, they would not leave until the National Assembly was assembled. They got their vote from the other estates. This is important because of Louis' response, which started the war on Bastille.

    The fall of Bastille happened because of rumours. French people had heard of Louis putting a mercenary army to guard him, they people revolted. They were angry and killed many people violently. This is important because it started the violence of the war.

    The Parisian women had had enough of the revolution. The prices for food, especially bread went up, so they rioted. They marched on Versailles and the broke into the palace, they even killed some guards. This is important because they caused Louis and Marie to return back to Paris.

    The National Assembly had made up a new Constitution. The king was not happy ot sign it but he did. This limited his power.It also made the Legislative Assembly. This is important because it took awya the King's power, changing th egovernment entirely.

    The National Convention took office in September 21. They got rid of the monarchy and made France a republic. They gave men a chance to have a say too. This is important because they started to move France in a positive direction.

    The Legislative Assembly declares war on other countries because they suggested giving Louis XVI his power back. This offended the Legislative Assembly very much. This is important because war was already going on and then they unwisely bring more war from other countries.

    Louis XVI Executed
    Louis was demoted from King, to just a commoner. He was tried as a traitor and found guilty. Then he was executed by the guillotine. This is important because it shows how weak and misguided the country became, they got to a point where they killed their king.

    The Reign of Terror, the French Revolution, ended. Everyone was sick of expensive foods and fighting. Soon they all agreed. This is important because it ended a time of terror and it began a time of restoration.

    The National Conventoin made up a new plan of government. It was obvious that they could not go about their old ways. They made their country more peaceful and in much more order than during the revolution. This is important because it marks a new time for the French.
