Due to the conflict between the two political parties Jacobins and the Girondins, thousands of people are sentenced to death and executed. Leader of the Jacobins, Maximilien Robespierre, becomes a new revolutionary leader. Many are peasants, but some are famous, like Georges Danton and Marie Antoinette. I think this event is important because it was a turning point for the French Revolution, ushering in the new era of the rule of Napoleon Bonaparte.
