    Convening the Estates General
    Basically, here the king sumons the Estates General for their meeting.

    Tennis Court Oath
    This picture shows the National Assembly of France. Here, the king has locked the doors to their usual meeting place so they meet at a tennis court (which is actually a handball court) and declair that they will not stop meeting until they have created a declaration.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    During this time, the king surrounds the city wih troops. The people of the city get angry and so they attack the Bastille, the symbol of the kings power. While doing this, they cut off the guard's heads and put them on pikes and also demolish the building, brick by brick, until it is destroyed.

    During this time, the peasants attacked the nobles in a revolt against the unfairness.
  • Declaration of the Rights of man and the Citizen

    Declaration of the Rights of man and the Citizen
    This is a document created by the National Assembly of France. Basically, it's a document that's saying the same thing the Declaration of Independence did. It was telling of life, liberty, their rights, and it stated what the king had done wrong.
  • Women's March

    Women's March
    On October 5, 1789, the women of France marched to the king's palace in Versailles and demanded bread. The women were armed with pitchforks, muskets, pikes, swords, and crowbars. Once the king saw them, he quickly gave in and gave all the bread in Versailles to them. Afterwards, the king fled to his royal court in Paris.

    The 3rd estate forces Louis and Marie to Paris and they try to escape but, sadly, the 3rd estate catches them and sends them back to Paris.
  • Constitution of 1791 is Drafted

    Constitution of 1791 is Drafted
    French constitution created by the National Assembly during the French Revolution. It retained the monarchy, but sovereignty effectively stayed in the Legislative Assembly, which was chosen by a system of indirect voting. The franchise was restricted to “active” citizens who paid a small amount in taxes; about 2/3 of adult men had the right to vote. The constitution lasted less than a year.

    The French's version of a congress. Created after the downfall of the government. Put the king on trial for treason. He was found guilty and, a little while later, Marie Antoinette was executed too.

    Reign of Terror Begins
    The king's wife dies and he believes she has been poisoned. He goes after all his enemies and his enemies families to get revenge and has them all beheaded.
  • Directory Takes Power

    Directory Takes Power
    October National Convention is dissolved in favor of five-man executive Directory and two large legislative bodies.
