· France was so poor, people were starving. They paid a lot of taxes, except the nobility.
· The king, Louis XVI and the queen, Marie Antoniette lived in Versailles. They were'nt rich but lived well.
· France support the americans meanwhile the American Revolution. -
· As the situation on France wasn't working, King Louis XVI made the convocation of the General States. It was a meeting between the Three States of France:
1. Clergy: 0,5% of the population. They didn't pay taxes and they had almost 300 representatives.
2. Nobility: 1,5% of the population. They didn't pay taxes and they had 300 representatives.
3. Everyone else: 98% of the population. They payed all taxes and they had 600 representatives. -
· The 600 representatives declared that everyone should pay taxes and that they didn't want monarchy, they want a parliament. The King, the nobility and the clergy didn't agree their proposal.
· That's why the 600 representatives declared the National Assembly of France.
· In the meeting, when the Third State was in the break, the king closed the door of the room and they couldn’t get in. So they moved to Tenner Court. -
The King, clergy and nobility, founded the Constitution for France.
The Third State protest against them and founded the National Assembly of France so they, in the Tennis Court Oath, founded the Constitution for France and they didn't allow to the 600 representatives of the Third Estate to go with them. -
· Troops were converging on Paris, were people lived in.
· Jacques Necker advisor them.
· Bastille: they put political prisoners there and they freed in (were 7 prisoners). But the real value to the revolutionaries, is that there were weapons. -
National Assembly of France declared the Declaration of Independence: the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of Citizen.

There were rumours about the king Louis XVI and Marie Antoniette. They were hoarding grain at Versailles, in other words, people were dying of hunger and the King didn't distributed anything among the poor.

· The Third Estate organized The Women’s March. Lots of women were able to get in the palace of Versailles, and achieved that the king and his wife went back to Paris. They were altogether to complain the actions of the Queen.
· The people of the Third Estate were hungry because they didn’t had to eat. All the grain was in Versailles. Also were rumours about the King, they said that the he was was being disrespectful to some of the symbols of the New France. -
Nobility starts to leave France because they didn't want the revolution.

The King and the Queen wanted to scape like nobility because they two were in danger. They escaped but they were found by people and the habitants of Varian took them in captive and brought them to Paris again.

People wanted to disabdicate the throne from the Luis XVI because they wanted a self-government without monarchy. They didn’t need monarchy and they could have a republic.

· There was a massacre called Champ de Mors.

· Marie Antoinette’s brother was Leopold II, the king of Austria. · Frederic William II (the King of Prussia) did a deal with Leopold II called the declaration of Pillnitz in august the 1791. The declaration said that they wanted to bring the French monarchy back to power.

France declared the war to Austria. Doing that, the king thought everything was going to be better with a WAR, because if France won the war, they would be more popular and stronger.

They attacked Austria and Holland and they didn't have success. In that moment, Prusia helped Austria to win. When Prusia attacked to Frane they were very successful.
When Prusia was in war with France ,Brunswick Manifesto (the duque of Brunswick) had an army inviding France. The duque wanted to install the king to the power again. -
Revolutionaris puted the kings in prison.
Jacobins created an Assembly and they declared a REPUBLIC, were there were no kings. In those times, 1400 people were executed because of battles. -
