    Meeting of the Estates General
    The estates all met up to discuss the money problems, economic and political reforms, and taxes. Each estate got one vote, which was not fair because the first two estates would vote for the same things so together their two votes would win against the third estate's one vote. The third estate wanted each of their deputes to have a vote.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    The third estate was not let into a meeting that the king had with the first two estates. They vowed to never leave the tennis court until a new constitution was created. The third estate wanted to have as much say in the government as the other estates.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    Enraged by their lack of say in France's government and their heavy taxation, the third estate attacked the Bastille. The Bastille was a prison and kind of a symbol for the oppression of the third estate. July 14th is now an independence day for France.
  • Women's March on Versailles

    Women's March on Versailles
    Jealous of the extravagant dresses and things the queen would buy almost everyday, and the poverty that they had experienced, the women of the third estate rioted. They bombarded the castle of Versailles and vowed to kill the queen if Louis didn't stop the famine and go back to Paris. Lucky for her the queen got away and Louis complied with the women's wishes to go back to Paris.

    The Declaration of Pillnitz was an act made from fear. The monarchy of Austria and Prussia was afraid that the French revolution would spread and effect their countries. They were against the enlightenment so they declared war on France.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI

    Execution of King Louis XVI
    King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette plotted to flee France and go to Austria, where they would be safe. However on the way there they were asked to stop and caught by a man that supported the revolution. He was given a trial, though everyone knew he would be sentenced to death.
  • Marat is stabbed by Charlotte Corday

    Marat is stabbed by Charlotte Corday
    While taking a medicinal bath Marat is visited by a vengeful maiden by the name of Charlotte Corday. She thought that the best why to stop the bloodshed around her was to shed the blood of the person who inspired the violence. Marat would write heated rants and publish them in his newspaper. Sadly Charlotte's idea did not play out like she expected and Marat was seen as an idol after his death which added fuel to the Revolution's flame.
  • Marie Antionette's Execution

    Marie Antionette's Execution
    Marie was with Louis XVl when they were trying to flee and got caught. Nine months after her husband's death, Marie was given a two day trial where she was convicted of treason and sentenced to death. On the day of her execution she expected to be taken to the guillotine by a carriage like Louis XVI was but she was welcomed with the battered, open to the public's ridicule, execution cart.

    Reign of Terror
    The Reign of Terror was a period during the French Revolution where the 3rd estate was gaining more power and attacking the rich first estates. They immediately killed everyone that was against the revolution. During this time the guillotine was invented and seen as a painless, equal way of execution, and it was definitely put to good use.
  • Napoleonic control

    Napoleonic control
    Napoleon rose to power because he shared opinions with the Revolutionaries. Because he was a military academy graduate he was able to defeat a royalist attack on France. His position rose and he got permission to attack Britain, however he instead attacked Egypt. Later he took the position of first consul.
