    Estates General Called
    King Louis called an estates general meeting, the first since 1614. They were discussing if the 1st and 2nd estates should pay taxes or not. Because of the size of the first two estates, they outvoted the 3rd and didn't have to pay taxes.

    A group of representatives from the Third Estate who formed a revolutionary government group. The representatives believed they were truly representing the French people. Since the Third Estate always was outvoted by the First and Second, they made this group. National Assembly

    Representatives of the Third Estate were locked out of their meeting room at Versailles, and had to find another place. They met at a nearby tennis court.   • Attack on the Bastille

    Attack on the Bastille
    The large castle-like structure was one of the worst prisons you could ever imagine going to. The Bastille was Paris' armory and heavily watched by guards. Early in the morning several thousand commoners joined and stormed the fortress, stealing weapons and killing guards along the way.     Declaration of Rights of Man Written
    The document was drafted by the National Assembly. Seperation of powers in government, and a push towards a more democratic government was created. This was written with the Assembly still meeting at a tennis court. DRM

    Bread March
    A group of thousands of French citizens, mainly women, gathered in Paris to march to Versailles. The objective of the march was to get lower prices for bread, but that changed once they reached the palace. The group broke past the gates of Versailles and stormed the palace. King Louis XVI was taken hostage along with his family and forced to relocate to Paris. Notes

    Royal Escape
    King Louis XVI, his wife Marie Antionette, and their kids tried to escape house arrest in their Paris palace. Dressing as bakers, trying to disguise their royal clothing, the family hopped into the royal carriage and rode off under night's dark cover. They were headed for Austira and almost reached their destination when they were spotted by someone stopped. They were arrested and sent back to Paris.

    France Declares War on Austria
    By losing the war, it would result in an end to the people's revolution. Austia, Prussia, Great Britain, and other countries joined the fight against France. Since the French people killed Marie Antoinette, Austira was even more angered. Source

    Death of King Louis XVI
    In 1972 Louis was accused of crimes against the poeple. King Louis XVI was convicted to death and did so by guillotine. They placed him in a carriage and paraded him 2 hours to his death site. Source

    Maximillian Robespierre said terror was the, "order of the day." This time period was created to scare those against the revolution, and anyone who was thought to of been counter-revolutionary was guillotined. During this time Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette were killed. Source 2

    Last of absolute monarchs was killed. Her husband got to ride in a carriage to his execution, but she had to ride in a regular prisioner's wagon. Marie kept queen-like calmness as she had the journey to the guillotine. Source

    Robespierre was arrested and jailed. When he escaped the guards, he tried to commit suicide my shooting himself in the jaw. The attempt was unsuccessful and Robespierre was arrested and sentenced to the guillotine for the next day. Source

    After doing well in the army he quickly rose through the ranks and became a large power. The sheer size of his army made him able to take over France. While he was in power, he put his family members in charge of conquered lands and spread Enlightenment ideas. Source
