    Peasant women marched on the Palace of Versailles This was due to the rising bread prices. They demanded the National assembly help provide bread and the King and Queen return to Paris.

  • Storming of the Bastille

    Armed Citizens stormed a prison and seized the building

  • The Death of the Old Regime

    Noblemen welcomed liberty out of fear. Proclaiming equality for commoners,noblemen, and the clergy

  • The New Government

    The National Assembly created a new constitution which created a limited monarchy. This stripped the king of most of his powers and created the Legislative Assembly

  • Louis XVI Flees

    Fearing for his life the King attempts to flee France. However, he was stopped at the border, which ultimately sealed his fate.

  • September Massacres

    Angry mobs raided prisons and executed thousands of Royal sympathizers and Priests
