Robospierre was governing France as a dictator. The peiod was known as the Reign of Terror. Approximately 3,000 were executed in Paris and as many as 40,000 were killed together.

Mary Antoinette is executed. The Revolutionary courts declare death sentences on those who challenge Robospierre.
