    Louis XVI calls a meeting of the Estates - General in Versailles, to discuss and come up with new solutions according to the tax system. Also his government was in a bad economic position, so he tried to gain more money to raise his position up.
  • National Assembly Formed

    National Assembly Formed
    The revolutionary assembly was formed by some representatives of the Third Estate, which were the common people. This assembly was formed because many people or common people didn't agree with the government on some decisions that were being made. They decided to form this assembly, and later on they finished writing the Constitution for their country.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    It all started because Louis XVI didn't approve the new assembly formed by the Third Estate. The day before Bastille day there was a rumor in which the king and his army would attack, so in the morning of July 14th, common people took weapons and decided to attack back. Then the people decided to go attack the Bastille since there were a few soldiers, and this led to a revolution between the people
  • Woman's March of Versailles

    The women of Paris invade Versailles, the women march up to Versailles and force the royal family to go back to Paris. By now Louis XIV is considered a 'prisoner' to many people in Paris. The assembly which by now is still in Versailles, declares in the constitutional monarchy, its inseparability to the king.

    Louis XIV and the royal family attempted to flee France, because of the conflicts between the people. The plan hatched, because someone recognized the king, and the family was detained and hold back by a guard. The king had tried to escape the revolution and people could no longer trust him, so the people decided to arrest him for his attempt to avoid the conflicts.

    France declared war to Austria because France saw that Austria was an open threat to the constitutional monarchy, and they wanted to keep the monarchy without changing.

    Before the Monarchy was abolished completely, food shortages and bad economic crisis led to the outbreak of this revolution. When Louis XIV and his wife, Marie Antoinette were arrested and sent to jail. The people decided to abolish the monarchy, since the monarchs were no longer trustful.

    Louis XIV execution took place in the Revolution Square, it impacted a lot the people and the government. He was sentenced to death by the French National Convention, since he convicted conspiracy.

    The National Convention arrests Robespierre
    Robespierre was arrested since he was the 'architect' of the reign of terror that sentenced death to a lot of people. He was overthrown and arrested by the National Convention. People started to realize that he wasn't trustful, and felt safer without him in the power.
  • Napoleon enters, end of revolution

    Napoleon enters, end of revolution
    France was faced with a lot of conflicts, between people, economic issues and the government. In 1799 a protest put Napoleon in power along with others. They changed the old governing system, then he was named emperor. He made new changed and made France improve and rise for power. By the end of Napoleon's rule, the country was a monarch again, and returning the government back to its positions as before.
