    In France, Paris there are 3 classes or estates. There is the first one is clergy and the second one is nobility and the third one is the compromised the vast majority of the population. The church owned 10% of the land and they didn’t have to pay taxes to the state.Also in the late 1780’s bad harvest sent the food prices sky high and brought hunger to the poorest peasants and city dwellers. Louis XVI was well meaning but weak and indecisive, but a wise choice was to hire Jacques Necker.

    National Assembly Acts

    The national assembly voted to end their own privilages, they agreed to give up their old manorial dues, exclusive hunting rights, special legal status , and exemption from taxes. August 4th was turned into a law. The french declared all men were born and remain free and equal rights. The French enjoyed their natural rights to liberty, property and security. All male citizens were created equal to the law. Trying to get women to have equal rights also.

    Rodespierre, shared lawyer and politican quickly rose to the leadership of the Committee of Public Safety.Robespierre had embraced Rousseau’s Idea of the general will as the source of all legitimate law.He promoted religious toleration and wanted to abolish slavery. Robespierre was one of the chief architect of the Reign of Terror,which lasted from September 1793 to July 1794. About 300,000 were arrested during the Reigon of Terror.Seventeen thousand were executed.
