Estates General Called
King Louis XVI was forced to call the Estates General because of the French financial situation, they were was made up of the three estates. The King Started by listing all the big problems, he then declared himself "The people's greatest friend". Then the CFO's talked about how the Kingdom had a budget deficit of 56 million (about 1.7 Billion today) which they thought they could fix with heavier taxes. The Third Estate didn't like this idea so they created a national assembly. -

French Revolution Timeline
The French Revolution or the The Revolution of 1789 was a revolutionary movement that lasted from 1789-1794. The French Revolution eventually lead to the age of Enlightenment and most of Europe being democratic, without The French Revolution Canada, The U S of A, and all of the western world would be completely different, we owe are way of life to The French Revolution. -
National Assembly Formed
The National Assembly or the National Constituent Assembly was a revolutionary assembly made up of representatives of the Third Estate, and eventually members of the Second and First Estates joined. -
Tennis Court Oath
The Third Estate realized that they had basically zero say in anything because they would be outvoted by the other two Estates, so they formed the National Assembly. they found themselves locked out of their usual meeting hall so they found a nearby indoor tennis court and made an oath to never disban until a written constitution had been established in France -
The Storming of the Bastille
The Bastille was a French armory/political prison that represented the royal authority in the center of Paris. The prison only contained seven prisoners but the revolutionaries saw it as a symbol of the monarchies power. -
Constitutional Monarchy
The National Assembly forced the King to change from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy, basically the king went from being top dog with no one being able to stop him from ruining the county to the head of state with rules he needed to follow and people he needed to get approval from. -

After the King was forced into a constitutional monarchy during the storming of the Bastille the French government became a republic -
The Royals Are Beheaded
King Louis and Queen Marie were condemned for treason and put to death. -
The Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror is the famous part, basically anyone and everyone suspected of treason was beheaded, this includes the First and Second Estate, Religious leaders, anyone and everyone was at risk. 17,000 people got the good old watermelon slicer, kinda gross not gonna lie, don't kill so many people. -
The Reign of Terror Ends
Robespierre also known as guy with a weird murder fetish started killing too many people cause obviously 17,000 people is alot a lot so they kill him and his supporters so that they stop killing people, than France lived happily ever after.
