Bastille
On July 14, 1789, 800 Parisians gathered at the Bastille. They thought that there was weapons and gun powder stored at the Bastille. The commander of the Bastille opened fire on the crowd killing many. The angry Parisians broke in, killed the commander, five guards and released all the prisoners for the French. This day is marked as there national independence day and has been celebrated every year since. -
