    On June 25, 1950 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People's Army crossed the 38th parallel, being the first military action of the Korean War. Later in July, American troops joined the war on South Koreas side. This was a fight against international communism.

    Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were American citizen who were believed to have allegedly committed espionage for the Soviet Union. Accused of selling to the Soviet Union, plans the U.S. had to build a nuclear weapon. Year later, their execution is still questioned, their children believe they were victims of the Cold War paranoia since a great deal of Americans believed there was Soviet infiltration in the U.S. government.

    On Dec. 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was going home from working as a seamstress. On the bus she sat on the first line for "colored", as time went by the bus became full and the bus driver James Blake ordered her and three others to give up their seats, all but Rosa complied. She refused to give up her seat, leading to her being arrested and fined $10.

    On February 16, 1959 Fidel Castro was sworn into power when he led a guerrilla movement to overthrow Fulgencio Batista out of power. Castro became the commander in chief of Cuba's armed forces, and he later replaced Miro Cardona as leader of the country government. As Castro went into power he established the first communist state in the Western Hemisphere.

    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 first and foremost ended segregation. Segregation was ended in public places and banned employment discrimination because of race, religion, sex, color, and from where they came from. This was seen as such a great accomplishment by the civil rights movement. when this was first proposed JFK was president, but after his assassination his successor Lyndon B. Johnson signed it into law.

    On April 4, 1968, King was on the second floor balcony of the Lorraine Hotel, where he was staying while supporting a sanitation workers' strike in Memphis, Tennessee. That say just after 6 p.m., a snipers bullet hit his neck. Even though he was rushed to the hospital he did not make it and was pronounced dead an hour later.

A Guardsmen shot against the students, killing 4 students, this marked the divide of the nation because of the Vietnam War.

Pol Pot wanted to change their ways by persecuting the educated, since he believed they were tainted by ideas of the Capitalist West, he enacted a "re-education" where in this community there was no completion. On April 17, he started killing people through starvation, torture, and work.

    On November 18, 1978 under the ruling of Jim Jones, leader of the cult, 909 members of the People's Temple died from cyanide poisoning, they called it a "Revolutionary Suicide". Jones established his sect in Jonestown, Guyana were they preached against racism, which attracted many African Americans. This event was known as the one that cost the most American lives non-natural related until the attack on November 11, 2001.

    On November 4, 1979 a group of Iranian militants invaded the American embassy in Tehran, capturing many embassy and military workers. They kept them hostage for 444 days, the 52 Americans held hostage, the nation waited for their release and would hang yellow ribbons. This event changed the course of a presidency and the relationship between America and Iran.

    On November 9,1989 the spokesman for East Berlin's Communist Party announced a change in East and West city relations. On midnight on this day citizens were now free to cross the border. East and West Berliners started to take down the wall, flooding the checkpoints.

    On February 11, 1990 after being in prison for 27 years for treason, Nelson Mandela was freed. In 1989, F.W. de Klerk became South Africa's new president, and he ordered the release of Nelson. In 1994, Mandela was elected president of South Africa.
