  • STAGE 1- Planning

Before we could do any filming or editing, we first had to come up with an idea for our title sequence. We decided to have our film about a secret relationship between two different social groups in high school. This meant our sequence would be more of a High School Drama rather than a Youth Drama.
  • STAGE 2- The Pitch

    STAGE 2- The Pitch
After coming up with our idea, we then had to pitch all our thoughts and ideas that was related to our final product. For example, what type of mise-en-scene we weill have, the target audience, how are production schedule.etc. We then got feedback from our teacher and classmates. This allowed us to make any changes that oculd improve our title sequence.
  • STAGE 3- Filming (part 1)

    STAGE 3- Filming (part 1)
Our first location was Valerie's bedroom. Here we filmed me waking up and getting ready for school. We took different shots of me waking up, turning on the light, getting some juice from the frudge, etc. We used a camera.tripod and some light to film the shots. As we had 4 characters to film, we decided to film Valerie in the living room, this meant we would have different mise-en-scene and 2 characters done in 1 day.
  • STAGE 3- Filming (part 2)

    STAGE 3- Filming (part 2)
On our second day, we filmed Dilara waking up and getting ready. As this location (my house) had a dog, we tohught it would be good to add the dog to the scenes to emphasize the character's personality.
  • STAGE 3- Filming (part 3)

    STAGE 3- Filming (part 3)
As we needed a school in order to show that the title sequence was a High School Drama, we used my old Secondary School. Here we filmed the two different social groups interacting with each other.
  • STAGE 3- Filming (part 4)

    STAGE 3- Filming (part 4)
On what we thought was going to our final day of filming, we filmed Bilal getting ready for school. WE decided we needed more shots as he was one of the two main characters. Again, we used the same equipment to film. The mise-en-scene in these shots was more simple and plain.
  • STAGE 4- Editing (part 1)

After the filming was finished, we went to sort out our different shots and begin on our rough cut. We used Final Cut Pro to edit. However, we found some complications. One being that the school shots were all out of focus. Another one being that Dilara's shots were too dark. This meant we had to go out and film everything again. However, even though the footage was not what we expected, we could still put the shots together to form a rough idea of what we wanted our final product to look like.
  • STAGE 5- Refilming (part 1)

The first thing we had to refilm was Dilara's shots. From looking at the footage we had, we realised my house was too dark. However, Dilara's house had the perfect lighting. We decided to film her again here. We also refilmed Valerie's shots as we didn't like the original shots. All we had left was to film was the school shots.
  • STAGE 6- Editing (part 2)

We then began editing the footage we had. Our sequence began to come together. At this point, we had all shots of all the characters getting ready and making their way to school. All was missing was to add the school shots.
  • STAGE 7- Refilming (part 2)

We also decided to c hange the location of the school. We chose to use Dilara's school as it was closer to college. We found that this location was better because it had better facilities. It seemed to fit our title sequence more. We also decided here that it would be better if Dilara was the other main character as she had more shots than Valerie.
  • STAGE 8- Editing (part 3)

We were now able to finsih the sequence. We added the school shots. This enabled us to start adding match cuts into the rough cut. For example, as we had 2 different shots of 2 different characters opening different freidges, we were able to put it side by side. This allowed the sequence to flow more seamlessly.

    STAGE 8- Editing (part 4)
    CREATION OF IDENT
As all films have a production and distrubution company ident at the start, we decided to create our own. We did this on iMotion. We created 2 different idents. We then placed them at the start of our title sequence.
  • STAGE 8- Editing (part 5)

In some parts of the title sequence, we thought the tiel sequence just goes from 1 shot to the next in a very snappy order. To make it look better, we added different types of simple transitions to make it seem more seamless. However, we shortened the time of the of some of them as we wanted to look like there was barely any type of transition.
  • STAGE 8- Editing (part 6)

    FINAL DAY
All we was missing at this point was sound and titles. We created the titles (actor names, director, etc.) on iMotion so the text had some sort of transition and did not just appear. We then imported all of this into Final Cut Pro and placed them at the right moments in the sequence.
We then found sound that was copyright free on the internet. We placed this onto the sequence. The song fit perfectly as it ended at our last shot.
WE THEN HAD OUR FINISHED PRODUCT.
