Anwar al-Sadet ends the Treaty of Friendship with Soviet Union in 1976. This decision helped maintain peace and help to make the army strogner and better in numbers. Egypt used American funding to develop there economy and make it better. source

In 1989, Egypt rejoins the Arab League. The were on a 10 year break. The citizens did not vote for this. Egypt was encouraged to pursue steps toward resolving main problems in Egypt. source

In 2002 a tragedy happens. Hundreds of passengers are killed when there train catches fire. This happenend south of Cairo. source

In 2006, 1,000 people die due to a ferry sinking in the Red Sea. There were 1,400 people on the vessel. The people were coming from Saudi Arabia. source

Egypt's last leader Mohamed Morsi returns to court in Cairo for allegedly killing a protestor. After this happened President Adly Mansour said there will be know more "pharaoh presidents". This happened on February 4, 2014.
