    Kobe Bryant was given a basketball for the first time at the age of two by his father. As Kobe stated, he "never let go of it ever since." His relationship with his father is based off the foundation of basketball. Erikson's 1st stage: Trust vs Mistrust. The ability to maintain a reliable relationship with an individual on a consistent basis. The idea of giving in to someone. Giving up such trust to make gain from it. The most important part of forming a relationship for a fulfilling life style.

    After his long run of playing injured in the NBA, Kobe decided to retire from playing basketball. For his last game, Kobe decided to leave it all on the court and move onto the next chapter of his life realizing that he could no longer play at a high level. Erikson's 6th stage: Intimacy vs Isolation. The notion of being emotionally involved . Having committed relationships with others is a main priority and no longer an afterthought. Questions in regards to the people around oneself develop.

    Kobe Bryant is currently in a happy marriage with his wife Vanessa. They have raised three little girls. After retirement from the NBA, Kobe is a writer. He won an Oscar for best animated short film titled "Dear Basketball" emphasizing on the game in which he loves. He also coaches his daughter's basketball team. Erikson's 7th stage: Generativity vs. Stagnation. A stage of innovation with new challenges that define the meaning of one's life. A vital phase in life that leads to late adulthood.
