This war continued until 1453. The Hundred Years' War started because of the English king's claim to the French throne. Even though the English won most of the battles, France won the war. Joan of Arc fought for the French; she claimed to have visions of the Archangel Michael, St. Margaret, and St. Catherine. She led many successful conquests. She was eventually captured and sold to the English.
