Emily McEvoy's Developmental Timeline

  • Infancy

I was born on September 10, 1997 in Athens Georgia.
  • Infancy: Emotional Development

    Q. Were you securely attached to your primary care giver?
    A. Yes most definitely, my grandma was my primary care giver for awhile and anytime I left for a sleep over or anything I'd miss her so much. Even today I miss her more than most adults should miss their care giver in college.

    Q. What was your temperament like as a baby?
    A. I was fairly good at being nice to others, but my grandma said I would whine a lot when I didn't get my way.
  • Early Childhood: Cognitive Development

    Q. How did family and friends describe you as a child? Was this the same or different from your infant temperament?
    A. I was a super shy kid growing up. It's different from my infant temperament because if I was upset I wouldn't flat out whine about it in public.
  • Early Childhood: Cognitive Development

    Q. What sort of interest did you have as a kid? Does it fit with the research on children's concept formation and categorization?
    A. I loved to dance, play sports, and listen to music. I also was huge into reading and exploring. I do think helped with concept formation and categorization because my interest taught me patience and self-control.
  • Adolescence: Physical Development

    Adolescence: Physical Development
    Q. Did you enter puberty earlier or later on than your peers? Do you think that had any effect on you?
    A. I entered sooner than my friends, but about average with my peers. It made me insecure at first, but later I became thankful that I went through it before others.
  • Emerging Adulthood: Emotional Development

    Q. Think about your closest relationship now. How would you describe attachment style?
    A. I think I have a healthy attachment to my best friend Mariah. We grew up together and are now in separate cities because of college. Even though we don't get to see each other everyday like we used to, we still keep in close touch and make an effort to see each other as much as possible.
