Eleanor Calderstin's Life...

  • Eleanor Calderstin was Born

I was born into a loving family of 4. Me, my Mother, My Father, and my older brother Louis, in the lovely little town right in the middle of the countryside. Since I was born into wealth, my fate had been already decided. I would learn the piano, learn all the basic skills needed to run a hosehold, and then I would marry the town's sheriff.
  • Moving...

I decided to move. After I married the sherrif, my brother and his wife died, so their little daughter, of 8 years, moved in with us. Rose Tyler was a lovely addition to our family and we loved her dearly. Unfourtunatly, my husband died shortly after in a bar incident. Then the taxes started rolling in, and I needed the money for Rose.So I decided we were moving to America.
  • Reaching America...

As we gathered to catch a glimpse of The Stutue of Liberty, I started to feel this like a weight on my shoulders got lifted almost completely off. As I went to the cabin to wake Rose I kept thinking of how wonderful America would be, Then suddenly, as I was shaking Rose I heard a few shouts and screams. Lady Liberty had been seen! Rose sat up with a start and we both hurried to railing to see.We were so happy, People were hugging, shouting, crying, or staring.
  • Reaching Port...

The moment the gang plank came down, we were all rushed down and into this huge building. We stood in line and just waited, and finally we were called up to the both and when I pulled out Rose's paper's it turns out, that they weren't legal.
  • Legal Detention...

After finding out that Rose's papers weren't updated the officers shoved us into this blocked off area, They told us to wait here until we were called, so Rose and I set ourselves up near the exit and waited eagarly for our escape. Little did we know, that we could be in there for months!
  • Freedom, from Detention

Finally, after about a month of waiting some officers called upon us, and asked us to, "Gather our belongings to leave dentention."
Rose and I hurried to grab our many possessions, then we left, and continued tp closer through the lines and tests, only getting us one step closer to America.
  • Stairs of Seperation...

After taking the horrible tests and the pain of waiting, we finally reached the stairs, Rose suddenly sat down and said, "Where now?" And I didn't have an answer, so I thought about it and decided that Chicago was our best option to go west because it was closer to the west and it would be easy to earn money if necessary. Chicago it was.
  • Chicago...

Rose and I were looking for a home and possibly a way to move west, because we had all the money we needed. So when I found this nice looking street, we began looking for a safe place to rest. I had found a tenement that didn't cost much more than a $1 and it was quite safe looking.
  • Thief!!!

Rose and I were looking about in town one day when we saw these lovely dresses. We decided to just look at their lovely designs because we were saving for the west. After sometime we walked home to find a man sprinting out of our room with about half of our money! We started to scream and run after that man, but he got away and no we didn't have nearly enough money to travel west.
  • Jobs...

Rose and I decided to get jobs, because it was the only way to get any money and the only way to travel west. But we didn't know anything except cooking, and there were no jobs we knew of, that required cooking. So we decided to open a shop full of baked goods. We found a nice place to start, it had akitchen and a place to sell, we bought it with the rest of our money, save a couple dollars for food and rent.
  • Delights...

Since we didn't know how to do any jobs, we decided to open a bakery, I had found his lovely place with a kitchen and a nice place to sell. We bought it with almost all our money. We made pastries and a few of our old family recipes. We made loads of money, especially on the family recipes because no one had tasted such lovely items before. Our bakery was a sucess!
  • Moving...

We had kept our bakery going for a while, and finally had saved enough money to move west, So we gather our belongings and followed a group of people west, a small family was kind enough to let us ride in theri wagon with them. We finally reached after about a month of traveling, we reached Oregon, and we immeadiatly entered in the land race. Then we bought two horses.
  • Getting our Land (The End)

BOOM!!! The gun rang and the horses took off, each rider waiting for their piece of land. We traveled farther then anyone and found land with a bi e and a g tree and a river running nearby, it was perfect. We grabbed our stake and dug itinto the ground proclaiming this plot of land officially, OURS...
