    The French Revolution happened because the 1st and 2nd estate didn't have to pay taxes and the King and Queen were oblivious to the fact that the people in the 3rd estate were starving. This lead the 3rd estate to demand rights, and when they didn't get the rights they wanted, they became mad, leading to riots. The revolution's purpose was to split taxes, give the third estate rights, and to get an effective government.

    The Tennis Court Oath was one taken by the educated part of the 3rd estate saying that they would not stop fighting until they got the rights they deserved. It occurred because the first and second estate locked them out of the building they were meeting in. The act of taking over the Bastille was important because it showed the other estates and government that they wanted the rights they deserved.

They were under house arrest, but they tried to flee. They were almost out before one guard stopped to see their paper work. They were caught and sent to prison. They were executed on a later date. This was important because it showed the 3rd estate that their own rulers didn't believe in them.

    During Napoleon's great conquest, he never expanded the French Empire by conquering Russia. He never could lead the French to a victory over the Russians because of the brutal winters they had to face in Russian territory. This was important because to the downward spiral of Napoleon because he started out with around 600,000 troops and returned with a small fraction of them. This showed the people of France that he couldn't lead like he used to. Due to this they sent him off in exile.

The idea of this was to keep a balance of power in the continent, hoping that it would prevent people like Napoleon from having too much power.
