Alexander the great defeats Greek city-states (335 BCE)
In 335 BCE Alexander the Great, king of Macedonia defeated Athens, Thebes, and the Greek city states. He extended his power throughout the persian empire and into India, He spreaded Greek culture and religion into parts of the Middle East and South Asia. Alexander the Great did many things, but without him Greek culture wouldn't have been spread, and the world wouldn't be as we know it today.

Greek city-states are weakened (431-404 BCE)

Greek city-states are weakened (431-404 BCE)
During the peloponnesian wars Greece had to start using taxes to pay for the war. The city-states were weakened because there were extreme taxes, so it was hard to afford daily necessities. Nowadays it's can be a pain to pay taxes, but I think that Greece did the right thing in starting taxes because without them, the government wouldn't be able to afford many important things, and North America would be a total mess.

Cleisthenes establishes first democratic constitution (505 BCE)

Cleisthenes establishes first democratic constitution (505 BCE)
Cleisthenes was looked upon as the founder of Athenian democracy. In 505 BCE he established the first democratic constitution. A democtatic constitution is a set of laws that define and limit the governments power, Free speech and political involvement is extended to all greek citizens. The democratic constitution is great because it alows the people to have power, the government cannot control what you do. I think that Cleisthenes has an enormous impact on todays world.

Most Greek city-states become oligarchies (700-650 BCE)

Most Greek city-states become oligarchies (700-650 BCE)
Oligarchies are ruled by the wealthiest people, so they are more of a benefit to the richer people than the poorer. In this period they were ruled by wealthy wine and olive oil merchants and landowners. Because of this, Many farmers became poor and many were sold into slavery,I think that's terrible because they are the ones producing and harvesting the food for the richer, so if anything they should be the ones gaining more money and definetly not being sold into slavery.
  • Solon becomes sole ruler in Athens (584-559 BCE)

Solon becomes sole ruler in Athens (584-559 BCE)
Solan was known as one of the Seven Wise Men of Greece, he became the ruler of Athens and made reforms to the government. The poorer classes were included in making government descisions through an elected council, many people were also freed from slavery due to debts. I think that Solon is generally a great leader, he freed many slaves, and allowed poorer classes to be included in government descisions, Solon really helped in shaping Greece as we know it.
