First time I saw and played with the Mac and saw the Internet in practice

We went to an 'open-day' at the university. They had one of the first Macs there; as I had allready used the GEM Desktop I wasn't really blown away by the GUI.
In another session someone demonstrated search for information in databases around the world; it was 6 years later I understood I had seen Internet technologies at work.

Permanent University IP connection

For years with had to use dial-up connections to another Uni to get onto "SURFnet".
After much debate with the networking department (who still believed in X-400 instead of IP) we got our leased line.
