Loki Steals the Tesseract from S.H.I.E.L.D
Loki teleports into a secret S.H.I.E.L.D base and steals the Tesseract, as well as Hawkeye and Dr. Erik Selvig. He destroys the base as he escapes, leading Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D, to decide on bringing together a team to get the artifact back. -

The Avengers arrive on S.H.I.E.L.D's Helicarrier
After gathering Dr. Bruce Banner(The Hulk), Steve Rodgers(Captain America), Tony Stark(Iron Man), Natasha Romanoff(Black Widow), and Thor from all over the world, the heroes gather onto the Helicarrier where they have Loki in custody and being questioned by Nick Fury on the whereabouts of the Tesseract. -
Hawkeye Attacks the Helicarrier and Frees Loki
In the midst of a heated argument amongst the members of the Avengers, Hawkeye, still under Loki's mind control, attacks the Helicarrier with a small strike force, damaging the ship in the process by destorying three engines and unleashing the Hulk's rampage, Hawkeye gets knocked out of his trance after a fight with the Black Widow, and Loki escapes, killing Agent Coulson in the process, and scattering the Hulk and Thor off into desolate locations. -
They Team Vows to Avenge the Loss of Agent Coulson
After the invasion ended, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye are all told of what happened to Agent Coulson. In a fit of frustration and guilt, they get the push needed to team up and head into New York City, where Loki plans on using the Tesseract to open a portal above Stark Tower, ultimately unleashing the Chitauri Army. -
