Voice-Related Technology Becomes Commonplace
Although this has been available for a number of years, it typically displayed notable limitations, only allowing users to issue rudimentary commands. However, advancements in microprocessors in recent years have allowed for groundbreaking improvements. A notable example is Apple’s Siri (an app for the iPhone which can browse files, surf the Internet and provide factoids on various subjects all via voice-command). I have no doubt that voice-related technology will only increase in popularity. -
Virtual Reality Technology Becomes Widely-Accepted
As with voice-related technologies, virtual reality has been available for some time. However, only recently has it advanced to the point where the images displayed actually feel “real.” With devices such as the Oculus Rift, new opportunities for virtual travel, gameplay, learning, relationships and many more activities have been born. Unlike previous generations of virtual reality systems, what is currently on the market renders realistic graphics, and is a mere fraction of the cost. -
Shifting Away From Traditional Screens
Currently, we are highly reliant upon screens on our phones, tablets, laptops, etcetera. However, this will enetually phase-out. In the future, we will be able to carry an entire computer system with a full-sized screen in their pocket. Devices that fit in one’s palm will reveal an ultra-high definition (far above 4K) holographic display with touch capabilities. My personal feeling is that this type of technology is right around the corner. -
Communication With Animals
There could be a device that allows us to grasp a more complete understanding of animal movements and sounds. In the present, analyzing the behavior of, for example, a dog can often amount to guesswork. I suspect there will be an app (or possibly a device) created that allows us to accurately interpret the behavior of any animal. -
Downloadable Knowledge
I believe technology will be available that allows us to acquire information purely by tuning in to a database of universal knowledge. If someone desires to learn a profession, they will be able to easily gain the skills necessary in seconds. The possibilities are endless. While this may sound rather fantastical and reminiscent to a science fiction novel, it may not be far-fetched. It has been scientifically proven that we only use approximately 10% of our brainpower –another 90% is dormant. -
Displaying Our Thoughts
Most of us know of hypnotic regression sessions where an individual is able to recall a situation years after it has occurred. Many have also had the experience of forgetting about a dream a few minutes after waking up. However, what if it was possible to remember these details with technology? By tapping into brainwaves, we may be able to recall anything we desire. From what we ate when we visited in Wisconsin three years ago, to the dancing hippo we saw in our dream the other night. -
Communication With Our Minds
Communication has advanced greatly over time. The next step is telepathy. Regardless of one’s geographic location and language, one will be able to conduct a conversation with absolutely anybody. Of course, great advancements in technology will be required to achieve this; however this concept may not be that far ahead.
