    Southern Sucession Succession: The act of withdrawing from membership in a group. 11 states in total seceded from the US, in fear that the Government to the North was gaining too much power and didn't want to be over-run. The secession of the southern states happened in two main groups. The first group compromising of South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas seceeding in the winter of 1861. Tennessee, North Carolina, Arkansas and Virginia seceding in the spring of 1861

    Abraham Lincolin16th President of the United States, He was the President throughout the American civil war. He is known for his famous speech known as the Gettysburd address, the emancipation proclamation, which was a bill to free slaves, and leading the north to a victory in the civil war. He was assinated bby John Wilks Booth on the night of April 14, 1865, and was pronounced dead from his wounds the 15th.

    Proclaimed by abraham Lincolin, there was a 4 year naval blockade of the south so they coud not trade. Blockade closed off 12 major ports including New Orleans. There were a few small ships that were able to get past. Mostly run by the British, these boats did not have the capacity to carry much. Union destroyed about 1500 blockade runners over the coursse of the war.

He was one of the most well known generals of the war. He was a great tactitioner and won many battles against the far superior Union army.

He could not gain any international recignition, and paid little attention to the war, causing immense inflation by printing more money to pay for war costs.

    Battle of AntietemPart of the Maryland campaign it was the first major battle of the civili war. It was the bloodiest single day battle in American history with 22,717 dead, wounded, and missing on both sides combined. Battle was tactically inconclusive, but since confederates left battlefield in was deemed a Union victory in military terms. It is thought that this victory gave Lincolin the guts to promote the emancipation proclomation.

    Lasting 3 days (1st-3rd) this battle was the battle with the largest amounts of casualties in the Civil war. Battle happened by accident when the two forces ran into eachother. Confederates force Union back on the first day, both sides call for more troops and 2nd has no decisive winner. Union finally wins after 3 days of fighting.

    A confederate POW (prisoner of war) camp located just outside Andersonville, Georgia. When in use, it was oover crowded to 4x it's capacity and therefore had very little water and food supplies. It was run by Major Henry Wirz, who after the war was tried and excecuted for murder. About 45'000 men were there during the war 13'000 of the died.Major causes of death were scurphy, dissentry and diarrhea.

Sherman, through Georgia where the Union army left the captured city of Atlanta to force the Confederate army back leaving destroyed military targents, industrie, agriculture and civilian homes in it's wake, also disrupting the Souths Economy and transportation network. It was an attempt to disrupt the South enough that it would leave them broken, leadiing to the end of the war.

    Lincolin proposed the end to slavery in the US to the executive branch of the government in need of a two thirds vote for the bill to pass. This was one of the biggest, if not the biggest thing that Lincolin did during his tunure as president before his untimly death. The proclamation passed, and with it slavery was banned and all slaves were free.
