    Louis calls the Estates-General
    Louis called together the clery, the nobles, and the common people in a national assembly to talk about the governments financial problems. It was the first meeting since 175 years ago. During the meeting Maximilian Robespierre fights for the common people and insures that the third estate has a voice in the decisions that are made at the meeting. This meeting was significant because it gave the third estate, the lowest class, a say in their government.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    Citizens from the third estate were locked out of the Estates-General meeting. They created and signed a pledge that created the National Assembly. The significance of this was that it was the first time that people defied King Louis, which led to revolution in later months.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    People attacked the people gaurding the Bastille, wanting ammunition. They freed the prisoners in the prison and killed the governor. The significance of this was that it was one of the people's first rebellions and it kicked off the start of the revolution, along with the Tennis Cour Oath.

    The Declaration of Rights of Man was a document that said all men are considered equal. It would also give increased freedom of press. It is significant because the National Assembly seized power for itself.

    March to Versailles
    A group of angry women with weapons stormed the castle wanting to kill Marie Antoinette. They did not succeed in killing her, but they tore her bed to shreads. The significance is that after this Louis agreed to sign the Declaration of Rights of Man.

    Louis's Trial
    Louis tried to leave the country to Austria with Marie Antionette in the time of war. He was then put on trial, found guilty and executed. This is significant because Louis was killed, which means the revolutionaries are the victors.
  • The Terror

    The Terror
    People's fear of the war and the revolution lead to a blood bath. Their is a violent repression and they suspend the new constitution. Anyone against the revolution is killed. The Community of Public safety serves like the head of the government now, with Robespeirre as the main leader. The significance of The Terror is that Robespeirre gets the country behind him by using the terror in the country.
  • Robespierre's Death

    Robespierre's Death
    Robespierre tried to kill himself with a gun, but failed and only shattered his jaw. He died slowly as he listened to his collegues criticize him as he was dying, but he couldnt respond. His death was significant because it lead to the end of The Terror.
