    First Day at Sea

    First Day at Sea
We have just loaded the caravel with our supplies for this long voyage from Hanko Port in Finland to Canada. We have about 300 men on this voyage. I am the Sailing Master for the caravel I am on. It is a very difficult job to hold, because there are few charts, and the ones we have may be inaccurate. The first place we plan to stop at is Manakara Port in Madagascar.

    The Middle of the Sea

We are currently in the middle of the sea with no land near us for thousands of miles. Everyone is already very tired of being at sea, and are always complaning because we have been on this caravel for about two months. We should be arriving in Denmark within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully we don't have a riot occur when we stop, because then we would lose many important people.

Arriving at Elsinore Port in Denmark

Arriving at Elsinore Port in Denmark
We have finally arrived at Elsinore Port in Denmark Everyone seems to be much happier now that we have arrived to land. But we still need to be aware of what the crew members are doing just incase they plan a riot. Other than that we are restocking our supplies before we leave again in three days.

    Back to Sea

We have started our voyage once again. Thankfully we had no riots at Elsinore Port. But I still believe that these men are not to happy to be on this trip. We are currently on our way to Fecamp Port in France. At the Port of France we are going to trade to get spices and other supplies for our next journey.

Arriving at Fecamp Port in France

Arriving at Fecamp Port in France
It's been around a month now since we left Denmark. We are now in France, and we won't be staying here longer than we need to. We are going to get our spices and leave. We would like to get to Canada fast so we can return home. Hopefully we are able to get all these men back to their families, it would be a shame to lose any of them.

    Back to Sea

When we were in France there was a riot. The men were tired of being at sea and wished to go home, and the captain denied them of that. He said that we must reach our goal of going to Canada before we return. We started with around 300 men and now we are down to around 230 men now. The captains are now working very hard to try and keep the rest of the men contained so they don't have another riot. We shouldn't have any problems though because we are so close to heading back home.

    Christmas at Sea

Today is Christmas! We are not doing much during the day, except the captain is letting us have a break during the day. Tonight is a whole other story, we are going to have a feast with delicacies from the United Kingdom. Since we are not going to be home for Christmas we have bought gifts for our family for when we get back.

Arriving at Amherst Port in Canada
We have traveled to Amherst to explore the land founded by some old friends. We are going to stay here for a couple of months to build homes for our families. Then we will start our journey home to get our families and then we will head back to start a new life in Amherst.

    Back to Finland for Families

All of the men, (including myself) that were able to make it to Canada were able to sucessfully make our homes to bring our families back to. All of the men are overjoyed to be heading back to Finland. It has been so long since we have seen our families and we cannot wait much longer. It will be difficult when we return because we will not be returning with all of the men we started with, and that will be hard to tell the families. But that time isn't to come for a while now.
