    Move From Ireland to America
Today, my brother Joshua and I set out on the Titanic to come to America. We are coming for land, religious freedom, job opputunities, and the mere adventure. We brought all of our possessions and bade a nice farewell to our mother, father, and younger sister. The ship is amazing; it is so large and there are so many things to do! The Titanic is a great way you can see how much industrialization has taken place.
  • Titanic Sinks*

    Titanic Sinks*
Late last night, we were notified that the Titanic hit an iceberg. We all believed that the great ship would not sink, but it did very early this morning. I was with a friend, Rosalie Bauchmann. She is another immigrant that we met on the ship. Rosalie and I were rescued by Lifeboat Seven, later to be transfered onto the Carpathia, but Joshua went down with the ship. Rosalie and I decided to settle in New York, were Joshua and I were planning to stay.
  • Wedding

    Wedding
Today, Rosalie and I were married in a nice church. It was quite secluded and private because we do not have any family here. We are planning on having children, and to name the first son after Joshua, my brother.
  • Robbery*

    Robbery*
Today, while I was at work in the factory, someone broke into my house and robbed me and Rosalie of all of our possessions. Neighbors heard and saw some unusual things, so the police were notified and they found out what was going on. There were actually three men at the scene. Two ran off with our belongings, but one was captured. We have decided to move out west for a better chance at life, now that we must start over.

    The 16th Amendment is Passed
Today, the 16th Amendment has been passed. It allows the Congress to levy an income tax without apportioning it among the States. This is not something I like, because we will continue to lose money. Not very many people I have conversed with are looking forward to this new amendment either.
  • Farming*

    Farming*
My family and I decided to start farming in our vast California land. Since we began, we have started growing our own food abundantly, as well as selling it to others. I enjoy farming because it reminds me of home, where my brother, Joshua, and my sister, Anna, and I used to work in the fields when Ma and Da were not tending to the farm.

    Daughter Dies
Over the past few weeks, my first and only child, Eleanor, has been struggling with pneumonia. Today, she took her last breath, closed her eyes for the final time, and left this world and her suffering behind.
