    Constantinople was founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine I in 324. It was on the site of an already existing city Byzantium. It was settled in the early days of Greek colonial expansion in around 657 BC.It was Captured by colonists of the city-state of Megara and turned it into their own.

Vandal state was clearly ailing by this point.Still, contemporaries clearly thought that Belisarius played a major role in winning the war so this is probably the most clear-cut case of Belisarius being a military genius.     Nika Riot was one of the most violent incidents in the history of Istanbul. It broke out in January 532 among the people and in few days it costed the lives of over 30,000 citizens wrecking nearly half of the city.
    The inhabitants of Constantinople were divided into four different factions, especially the Green and the Blue teams were the most famous ones but there were also the White and the Red teams.

Urban’s war cry caught fire, mobilizing clerics to drum up support throughout Europe for the crusade against the Muslims. All told between 60,000 and 100,000 people responded to Urban’s call to march on Jerusalem.

The Ottomans ultimately prevailed due to the use of gunpowder.
