    The Battle of Marathon took place in 490 B.C when persian started to invade Greece. The big Persian tried three times to conquer Greece but they were very unfortunate. The Greeks won the early battle by using the formation called “Phalanx”.The Phalanx formation is described as when foot soldiers fight side by side with spear and shields. After Greeks victory the Pheidippides ran 26 miles to inform Athens of the victory. It was very important because Greeks fought with Persians and they won.

    The Battle of Thermopylae took place in 480-479 B.C. Greeks were united to stop 10,000 Persians. 300 Spartans held the Thermopylae, a mountain pass for three days. They eventually lost. Spartans found a secret passage around the mountains. It was a trail through the mountains that was give my a Greek Traitor. The significance of this battle was how 300 spartans held of 10,000 Persians for 3 days.

Throughout the years the Athens became to powerful as the leader of the Delian League. Initially members swore to hold the same enemies and allies by taking an oath. Members were expected to give tributes to the treasury which was used to build and maintain the naval fleet led by Athens.

The significance about Pericles was that he was a coward and he used people to defend him.

    The Golden age occurred between the Persian war and the peloponnesian war. Athens became very wealthy and powerful as the Delian League after the Persian war. Pericles was the leader of Athens during the Golden Age (461-429 BC). When Pericles was the leader of athens he did amazing stuff to it. He increased democracy, created the strongest navy and he made athens beautiful with his hard work.Historical significance was when Classical art came through with the golden age and the Theatre to.
