Averie's AP Calculus BC Timeline

  • Review of Basic Integration Techniques

    Review of Basic Integration Techniques
We reviewed the limit definition of the derivative, the trapezoidal rule and the different Riemann sums, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, the mean value theorem, the average value of a function, as well as the second fundamental theorem of calculus. The easiest part are the riemann sums. The hardest part is remembering all the differences between the Disc/Washer method and the Shell method for integration.
  • Differential Equation Review

    Differential Equation Review
Today we covered slope fields (graphical representations of differential equations), Euler's method for approximation, separation of variables for integration, growth and decay models, and logistics. The easiest part are the slope fields because they require no thinking. The hardest concept is remembering the logistical equations.
  • Infinite Series Review

    Infinite Series Review
Today we covered sequences (how to check for convergence, how they can be defined, how to find boundedness and monotonicity, how to find the nth term) and series (convergence, types of series, tests for convergence). The easiest part is testing for convergence because there are set tests that you can use. The hardest part is remembering the distinctions between series and sequences and not getting them mixed up.
  • Taylor Polynomials Review

    Taylor Polynomials Review
Today we reviewed the general form of taylor/maclaurin (where c=0) polynomials and how to find them. We also reviewed how to find exact error and how to find the Lagrange error bound. We also covered Power series and how to find the domain/ interval of convergence and the radius of convergence and the tests we use to test for convergence and went over the power series we need to know cold. The easiest is testing for convergence. The hardest is distinguishing between polynomials and series.
  • Complete Practice Exam Pt 1

Today I worked with Amelia during class to solve three free response questions. They covered related rates, the motion of a particle, and another problem with limits. The hardest part was finding the total cost at the end of question 1 because it was worded confusingly. The easiest part was finding area from a graph.
  • Advanced Integration Techniques

    Advanced Integration Techniques
We reviewed integration by parts Sudv=uv-Svdu (S= integrand), partial fractions, and l'hospital's rule. Trig sub and things like bernoulli will not be on the AP! The hardest part is sometimes figuring out what the questions are asking. The easiest part is partial fractions!

  • Integration Applications

Today we went over integration techniques like finding area, volume with the disc/washer and shell techniques, and finding cross sections.
  • Review AP test taken in class

I need to work on Lagrange and integrating when the function is in the integrand.
