     Columbus sailed the ocean blue
    Columbus was a spanish explorer who tried to reach the east indies by going west. Unfortunatly, he miscalculated the size of the earth and landed on an island in the carribien. He claimed it for spain and called it San Salvador "Holy Savior". Columbus kept sailing and came across many island and claimed them all for Spain.

    First enslaved Africans arrive in the Americas
    Mainly the causes of slavery of Africans in the americas began with the sugar plantations and tobacco farms. These enterprises needed cheap labor to make the product. They had planned to use Native Americans but they soon died out due to disease and warfare. Slavery had been a "thing" in africa for centries. Africa started to trade with Europeans slaves for weapons and goods.

    Cortés conquers Aztec Empire
    Cortez landed in North America and soon learned about the vast wealth of the Aztec. Cortez soon ventured to the Aztec Empire and their leader Montezuma II was convinced that he was a god. The Aztecs gave him a supply of gold but Cortez was not satified and demanded more. Out of their barbaric nature, Cortez killed many Aztecs while they were celebrating a religiouse festival and the Aztecs struck back. They didn't defeat Cortez's men because he had superior weponry and diseases on his side.

    Pizarro conquers Incan Empire
    Francisco Pizarro was a Spaniard who conquered the Incan Empire. He and his 200 men met Atahualpa (the incan ruler) with his 30,000 unarmed men. Pizarro ambushed the incans and kidnaped Atahualpa. Atahualpa offered to "fill a room once with gold and twice with silver" in exchange for his release. after receiving these gifts they strangeled Atahualpa and captured their capital, Cuzco.

     English found Jamestown
    James town was the first English settlement in North America. Their start was disastrous. The settlers never started to plant crops because they were more interested in finding gold. Mnay people died of hunger, disease, and battles with Native Americans. They eventually took control of the situation and their profit improved greatly after farmers discovered tobacco. This skyrockited James Town and kept it alive.

    A group known as the Pilgrims founded Plymouth. In Europe they were persecuted for their beliefs so they establishe a colony in the new world. They sought religiouse freedom.
  • French and Indian War ends

    The French and Indian war was accually a war between the French and the English. They just used a lot of natives a soldiers. The main cause was a conflict over claims in the Ohio Valley. The war took place on the american continent. The war lasted seven years. The british eventually defeated the french and the french surrendered their North America holdings. Basically the british seized the entire eastern half of of North America.
