    The UK and UN wanted to give the Jews a place to go and live after the Holocaust because they didnt want them immigrating into their country so they split up palestine so the Jews could live there as well. This caused conflicts to this day on who belongs and deserves that land. The land is very important to both the palestine and Jewish faith. Nobady wants to give up the land
  • Six Day War

    Six Day War
    The Soviet Union gave false information to Egypt that Isreal was massing troops on the Syrian border. The Egyptians took positions overlooking the Strait of Tiran. Isreal told them that if they close the strait it would be an act of war. On May 22 Egypt closed the strait causing war. Egypt was allied with neighboring countires of Jordan and Syria. Isreal quickly won the Sinai Penninsula and other territories within a few days. They signed a seize fire on June 11 ending this "war"

    In a surprise attack on the Jewish day of atonement, Egypt retook the Suez canal and a narrow zone on the other side. Syria reconquered the Golan Heights. Following massive US and Soviet resupplying of the sides, Israel succeeded in pushing back the Syrians and threatening Damascus. In Sinai, the IDF crossed the Suez Canal and cut off the Egyptian Third Army.

    Egyptian Prestident, Anwar Sadat, signed a peace treaty with Israel at Camp David, being the first Arab nation to recognize Israel. Arab nations were angered at Egypt for making peace with Israel.
  • Invasion of Lebanon

    Invasion of Lebanon, taking the Israelis right up to and into Beirut.Yasser Arafat and his fighters were forced to depart for Tunisia. But the operation went wrong for Israel. It was condemned by world and much of its own opinion. When Christian fighters massacred hundreds of Palestinian civilians as the Israeli army stood by, and it failed to make a political agreement with the Christians stick. It pulled back to an enclave north of their border.

Israeli forces respond with tear gas, plastic bullets, and live ammunition.After the outbreak of the First Intifada, Shaikh Ahmed Yassin creates Hamas from the Gaza wing of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.
