  • The Great Migration

    The Great Migration
    The great migration (1618-1623). The first ship 1619 that brought slaves was, “The White Lion”, that had servants during war. This Dutch ship landed in Jamestown, Virginia with 20 enslaved Africans.The population in the colonies grew from 450 to 4000. This migration caused the triangle trade, which was Europe traded goods for slaves in Africa and then sold the slave to the America. The process took about 18 months.
  • Eli Whitney creates the cotton gin

    Eli Whitney creates the cotton gin
    Cotton Gin was invented in the United States in 1793 by Eli Whitney (1765–1825). A machine that revolutionized the production of cotton by greatly speeding up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. This took place in the south because they used it to produce more cotton. This changed society because this made the south want more slavery.

Women were believed that they were “born” to be a mother and wife only.Women mostly had religion, thought of husband and children in mind their mind. Women were believed to be purity, submissiveness and have domesticity of all religion. Women try to do the right thing always like obey the husband.

    Lowell Girls happened in 1840 and was named in honor of Francis Cabot Lowell. Lowell girls were girls or women that worked in lowell mills. The idea of lowell mill girls started the industrial revolution. With the success that the lowell girls brought to factories changed the idea of factory workers. This impacted the north because now they produce more products from the factories to sell.

    Samuel Morse creates the Morse Code
    One important invention that was improved in 1844 by the inventor, Samuel Morse, was the telegraph. He improved the telegraph, by creating the morse code that “ made communication across the country faster than ever before.” This took place in the North because they would communicate with this while working in factories.

    The Irish immigrated to America because they wanted a better life. They believed that it would be a better life in America than in Ireland. The life for the Irish was really bad. They became were the low ranked class in society. They were paid less than american citizens but more than in Ireland. They had to live in a small 9 by 11 foot room.

    March 1876 Alexander Graham Bell patents the telephone. He may not have invented the telephone, but Alexander Graham Bell was the first to get a patent for it. Being able to speak to people over a telephone wire greatly changes the way the world communicates. Was mostly used in the north to communicate with others

He impacted both the North and the South because he convinced white people from the north to be anti-slavery and he help runaway slaves from the south.
