I live in Beijing, China. It's very poor, and torn down where I live. My parents hardly get enough money to support the family, and we don't have a big family at all. My dad suggested we move to California. He said there will be more job offers for him and my mom. Hopefully when we move there, they will get a better paying job.

After Math of the Gold Rush
During, and after the gold rush, California changed. It started gaining it's population. People started sworming like bumble bees, creating more cities, and crowding the streets. More cities meant more jobs, so tons of people came. After the Gold Rush, my family became more rich and were able to afford more things.

These years were the hardest for my family. We lost a lot. We lost a lot of money, and we had to get a new smaller home. We were all devistatd. There were racial comments from others on the street. It hurt so bad like dropping a huge rock on your toe. My mom would make jewelry and sell it just for extra money.

  • Earthquake

    Earthquake
Buildings were tumbling down to the ground. Breaking apart. Crumbling. Next to come was the home in which my family and I lived in. All of our belonings- ruined. Many families homes were destroyed. The earthquake caused families to tear apart from each other. Reconstruction will take years.
