    Old Kingdom

    Lasted around 1000 years.The basic structure of society and the state were established. The pharaoh was already a divine and powerful figure. The capital city was Memphis. The Old Kingdom collapsed around 2200 BC.

    Middle Kingdom

    Lasted about 400 years. In this period, the power of the pharaohs increased. New cities were built, and the capital was moved to Thebes
