    The Trojan war and the destruction of Troy

    Troy War was the conflict between early Greece and people of Troy in Anatonia. But the main source of Troy War today is Homer’s lliad. In the literature the War is related with the Greek gods. The conflict between human and gods have formed many heroes and stories.

    Developement of the first Greek Alphabet

    The Greek alphabet first appears during the 8th century BCE. The Greek alphabet was born when Greeks adapted the Phoenician writing system to represent their own language because the Phoenician system is easy to understand.
  • Period: 776 BCE to 776 BCE

    The first Olympic Games are staged

    The Olympic games were originally to celebrate Zeus. The prizes for the victors were olive leaf wreaths or crowns. The athletes competed naked, probably for complete freedom of movement.

    Homer writes the lliad and the Odyssey

    The Iliad tells the Troy War. It comes up of many heroic soldier upon the War. The Odyssey is the story of the Greek hero Odysseus and many legend of him during the ten year for coming home. These two books both reflect the life of ancient Greek.

    Greek/Persian War led by Xerxes

    The Persian War was the conflict between Greek and Persian. And it is the period of almost half a century. Xerxes was the king of Pesia. He turned his attention to the Greece and started the Persian War.

    The Peloponnesian Wars begins between Sparta and Athens

    The Peloponnesian War fought between the Athens and Sparta. Almost all cities in Greece were involved in this war. The war changed Greece a lot.

    Alexander the Great defeats the Persians at Issus and is given Egypt by the Persian Satrap where he builds a capital at Alexandria and found the great library

    Alexander the Great from the kingdom of Macedon, along the east, conquered lots of countries include Persian, Egypt, Thebe and many other countries. He builded the first library in Alexandria.
  • Period: 200 BCE to 196 BCE

    First Roman victory over Greece

    The Second Macedonian War marked the end of the Greece power. The Macedonia War helped lead to Roman domination of the entire eastern Maditettanean area.
