    Athens and Sparta were both powerful poli, and each wanted to spread their way of life. Spart attacked Athens 431BC, which was the beginning of the 27 year long Peloponnesian war.

    Minoans come to an end

    Hystorians do not know why or how the Minoans ended, but they did fall rather quickly. Some historians believe that a volcano brought about the end of the Minoans. We do know that towards the the end of their civilization, they were conquered by the Mycenaeans from the mainlad of Greece.

    Mycenaeans begin

    Mycenaeans buillt many small kingdoms through the mainland of Greece, making them, technically, the first Greeks and they spoke a form of Greek language. They diveloped a lot of their culture from their interaction with the Minoans whom they traded with.

    War between the Persians and Greek city states (499--450 BCE). The Persian king, Darius, launched a full invation on Greece to start the war.
