    Peloponnesian war ends. (404BCE)

    Sparta defeats Athens in 404BCE, ending the Peloponnsian war. This was an important war because it was a large part of Greek history, and the rivalry of Sparta and Athens. It occured in the areas Mainland Greece, Asia Minor, Sicily.

    Pericles rule Athens (460-429BCE)

    Cimon became the ruler of Athens, which no one could challenge or question. He ruled until death. This is an important dictatorship in acient times, and they battled Sparta.

    The polis becomes the centre of Greek life. (c. 700BCE)

    The polis is/was important because it was really the first ever democracy, and it's where our system formed, and the trading system, and much more. It occured in Ancient Greece.

    The first Olympic Games take place. (776BCE)

    It took place in Olympia, and the Olympians raced, and competed in the games. It was an impoortant even because the Olympics is a big part of the human race, and it marks our first official kind of competitive events.
  • The blind poet Homer writes the Illiad and the Odyssey. (800-700BCE)

    It was written during the Trojan War, and it was important because it was one of the oldest pieces of literature. Homer, a blind poet wrote it.
  • Battle of Marathon. (490BCE)

    This battle is one of the earliest ever recorded battles, it is also one of the most famous military engagement. But Miltiades was a clever person, and managed to trap and kill about 6400 Persians whilst only about 200 Greeks were lost.
  • Plato opens an academy of learning in Athens (c. 380BCE)

    The academy was placed just outside of the walls of Ancient Greece. It was one of the earliest exclusive schools. Plato believed that in his school, "Let None But Geometers Enter Here."
