    The Olympic Games
    The Olympic Games were began as part of a religious festival in honor of the god Zeus. The festival used to include religious ceremonies and prepossessions, but in 776 a footrace was added. Later, there would be more games added and the Olympics would be a regular event

    The Persian War
    The city-state of Miletus rebelled against Persian rule. The persian lost and the Athenians lost.

    Pericles

    Pericles
    Pericles was one of the leading citizens of Athens during its Golden Age and for nearly 30 years Pericles was repeatedly reelected as one of the top ten generals. He had soon become the most powerful man in Athens.

    The Parthenon

    The Parthenon
    The building that was the most famous under the leader ship of Pericles was the Parthenon. The Parthenon was a temple to the goddess of wisdom, Athena. It was built between 447 and 432 B.C and it is considered the greatest of all Greek buildings. Even though the Parthenon was damaged by an explosion the Parthenon stills stands and brings thousands of tourist to see it each year.

    The Peloponnesian War

    The Peloponnesian War
    As Athens built its empire,the Spartans worried that Athens was becoming too powerful. The Spartans also did not like how they were pushing other Greek city-states to have the Athenian-style democracy. Sparta and several of its allies came together to form a league. The league was named for the Peloponnesus. At the end of the war the Spartans ended up winning and made the Athenians tear down their wall that kept them safe and they also did not allow them to have a navy.

    Socrates

    Socrates
    Socrates was one of the most famous Greek philosophers the year he was born on was 468 B.C and he died in the year 399 B.C. Socrates grew up in the Golden age of Athens but he did live to see the Golden Age crumble during the Peloponnesian War. Socrates did not write down anything, but sense one of his students wrote his ideas down we know more about him. Socrates had different methods of philosophizing and was different then other philosophers.

    Plato

    Plato
    Plato was around the age of 24 when the Peloponnesian War ended. When Socrates was killed Plato fled from Athens because he felt he was not welcome since Socrates was killed. When Plato was older he went back to Athens and made a school that lasted 900 years until the Romans closed it down because it did not teach Christianity.

    Aristotle

    Aristotle
    Like Socrates Plato found a great student named Aristotle. Aristotle was born around the year 384 B.C in Macedonia, there his father was a doctor in the court of the king. Aristotle was greatly influenced by his father and Plato. Aristotle saw from his observations that there is more than one way to explain things. Like other philosophers he wrote about what it meant to lead a good just life. Aristotle influenced many and it lasted for a long time.

    Alexander was student of Aristotle. He was born in in the year 384 B.C. He was influenced by his father and Plato. Alexander found out that there are ore than one way to explain things. Like other philosophers he wrote about how to live a good just life.
