    Pepi the 2nd

    Pepi II, lived to the age of 100 years and ruled for 96 of them. His older brother, the king Merenra, was king for only a few years before he died. Pepi the 2nd became king. When Pepi the 2nd was nine years old, a caravan leader, Harkhuf, made a journey into Nubia, and wrote to the nine year old Pepi II, describing a dancing dwarf he was bringing back to Egypt. The young king was so excited, he wrote Harkuf a letter.

    Thutmose the 3rd

    Thutmose III possessed the qualities of a great ruler. A brilliant general who never lost a battle, he also excelled as an administrator and statesman. He was an accomplished horseman, archer, and athlete. He was at battle most of his ruling, and earned great trust from Egypt.

    Amenhotep the 3rd

    Amenhotep III was the great grandson of Thutmose III. He was king for almost forty years. He did many things for Egypt, including building temples and statues. Amenhotep III was very rich and lived in his palace in Thebes.

    Akhenaten

    Akhenaten was the king who changed tradition and established only one god for Ancient Egypt. He built temples to honor the sun god Aten. By the time Akhenaten took the throne, his family had been ruling Egypt for about two hundred years.

    Tutankhamum lived his early life in the city of Akhetaten. He is the son of Lady Kiya, who is a Mitannian princes and a wife of Akhenaten. Tutankhamum was the brother of Smenkhkara.

    Rameses II was the son of Seti I, and was around thirty years old when he became king of Egypt and then reigned for 67 years. He had many wives, among them some of his own near relatives, and was the father of about 111 sons and 51 daughters.

    Egypt was in danger of losing the whole Delta, first to foreign immigrants and then by armed invasion.This is the situation Rameses the 2nd son, Merenptah inherited. He spent the first few years of his reign making preparations for the struggle which he knew to be inevitable.
