Hunters began to settle in the Nile Valley. They did things like farming, herding animals, built homes, etc. They saw many advantages in the area and took the chance to stay there permanently.
(DURING THE PREDYNASTIC PERIOD) -
Hieroglyphics were developed to write and complete scripts. They used it to record important information on walls or on clay scripts. The characters used pictures as well as alphabetical characters. There were around 1,000 characters developed.
(DURING THE EARLY DYNASTIC PERIOD, FIRST DYNASTY) -
King Narmer was one of the first Egyprian Phraoah. He was the one that unified Upper and Lower Egypt.

The first pyramid built in Egypt was a pyramid made out of steps. It was built in Saqqara, for the Pharaoh Djoser. Djoser was the ruler during the Third Dynasty of the Old Kingdom.
(DURING THE THIRD DYNASTY) -
The three major pyramids were built in 2500 BC. The three pyramids are Khufu's, Khafra's, and The Great Sphinx. The first two are both pyramids for the Pharaohs Khufu and Khafra. Khafras Pyramid was built on a higher level so it looks the tallest, but it is actually shorter than Khufu's Pyramid. The Sphinx has a body of a lion and head of a human. In ancient Egypt, lions were very powerful, which is where the lions body comes from.
(DURING THE FOURTH DYNASTY) -
The government in Ancient Egypt collapsed and caused the united upper and lower part of Egypt to split again. They were split and had different rulers for about 150 years.

In 671, King Esarhaddon conquered Egypt in less than a month. This was the greatest Assyrian conquer and expand. -
The Persian Empire invaded Egypt. They defeated Egypt in the Battle of Pelusium. Since they defeated Egypt, they took control of the land. The Persian Empire was considered the largest empire after their victory.

After defeating the Persian emperor Darius for control of Syria and the Levant, Alexander the Great conquered Egypt and founded the city of Alexandria. He ruled the dynasty until 31 BC.

Queen Cleopatra committed suicide. Committing suicide allowed Cleopatra to avoid the humiliation of being paraded as a prisoner. After her death, Egypt was then ruled by the Romans. Octavian arrived in Alexandria and defeated the Egyptian army. Egypt then became an official Roman province.

In 33 CE, Chrisitanity was brought into Egypt. Christanity was brought into Egypt by Mark Evangelist. Mark founded the first church in Alexandria, called the Church of Alexandria. Christanity was practiced in Egypt ever since.
