    Khufu builds the Great Sphinx and Great Pyramid of Giza

    Middle Kingdom

    Interesting facts:
    (1) During this period, Osiris (the God of death) became the most important God in most of Egypt.
    (2) In this period, Egypt was divided into Nomes, which were basically different districts of Egypt.

    New Kingdom

    Interesting facts:
    (1) This was Egypt's most prosperous period and also marked the peak of the its power.
    (2) The second half of this kingdom is well known as the Ramesside period, named after the eleven Pharaohs that took the name of Ramesses I.
