    American Identity

American identity is constituted by people invading other people's lands and taking over with force. An American is to fight against change but at the end learning that we need to evolve to become better. We are a land of opportunity, build with the blood of slaves and natives killed. We take what we want against others and do what we believe is best for our people. We change the way we think to become more inclusive and provide protection to our people.

    Colonial era

Christopher Columbus was the first to be a part of what I think is American Identity. Columbus invaded but he did not discover new land which belonged to the Natives. We betrayed the Natives. Columbus abused his power to get what he wanted to take over the land in the name of the Spain monarchs. He massacred natives that got in his way. The blood of the natives that died and how the natives were taken to become slaves, created the system that we believe we were superior to the Natives.

    Revolution and Constitution

On July 2, 1788, a new constitution was accepted by Congress. The Preamble to Constitution started with “We the People,” which originally only meant landowners who had the right to vote benefited from the Constitution. The Preamble has not been changed at all, although, the meaning has changed over time to be more inclusive. We evolve as Americans to fit the needs of the people. We fight for what we believe is right and have to become able to change.
  • Early Republic

    Early Republic

The presidents used the campaign of Manifest Destiny. The expansion of immigrants coming to our new land, the Americans needed more land for home and crops. We are invading further into land and trick them into treaties where they give up their land or threaten war upon them if they fail to move out of our way. Americans resorting to violence and trickery, taking advantage of the Natives and killing who is on our way. We take over land and use force to get it if needed.

Women's Suffrage has Americans fighting again for what they believe in. Women wanted to be heard and have the right to vote. In America, women were viewed as property of her husband. Abigail Adams, who was married to John Adams, one of the founding fathers of America, she fought against slavery and sent many letters about her opinions, trying to get someone to hear her pleas. She never gave up and now these letters are part of our history. Inspire women to fight for their place.
  • Civil War

    Civil War

Emancipation was the fight that slaves gave to be considered part of the “We the People”, and not as property. It took many years to get to this point, they were tired of how they were treated and found comfort in God when they prayed, but once they had enough, they continue to make progress, to be heard and have a voice that represented them. What I believe to be the most thing that makes us American is the right to fight for our pursuit of happiness and we are protected by our constitution.
