    Thirty Years War

    This took place from 1618 to 1648 in Europe. The reason for this war was because of conflict of religion. This war ended up killing around 500,000 people, plus the diseases caused the death tole to get into the millions. Once the war finally ended it resulted in the Peace of Westphalia.

  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights

    This act was signed into law by the co-rulers of England, William III and Mary II, in 1689.In the Bill of Rights there were three things: everything that King James did wrong, confirmation that William and Mary were the successors of England, and a list of 13 freedoms for the citizens. This was important because it was when the ruler of England changed as well as changing the laws.

  • War of the Austrian Succession

    War of the Austrian Succession

    The War of the Austrian Succession took place from 1740 to 1748. This happened when the Prussians invaded the Austrian provenance of Silesia. This war was estimated to have killed around half of a million people. This war finally ended in 1748 with the Treaty of Aix-La-Chapelle.

  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was passed, however later in 1766 the act was repealed. This act stated that all documents, legal or commercial, had to have a tax stamp. This was very important because it meant that almost any sort of paper product would be taxed, even playing cards. Luckily this act got repealed, but it was still a very difficult time for people in the industries it targeted.

    American Revolution

    The American revolution lasted from 1775 to 1783. The Revolutionary War was between the US and Great Britain. In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was made to show the separation of 13 north American British Colonies from Great Britain. Close to 30,000 people total died in the Revolutionary war which compared to some of the other ones during this time wasn't much but it was still a great number of people dying.

  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783 and became effective one year later in 1784. This treaty ended the Spanish-American war and allowed the United States to go oversea. The Spanish-American war claimed the lives of around 10,000 people, however a lot of the deaths were caused by diseases instead of the fighting.

    The French revolution started in 1789 and lasted until 1799. During this time the citizens of France overthrew the monarchs and formed their own government. However this later ended in 1799 when Napoleon overthrew their government and took control.

    Tennis Court Oath

    The Tennis Court Oath was started in 1789 and stated that they wouldn't separate until there was a new constitution. This was important because the French Third Estate was under oath not to vote to separate or disband. The reason it was called the Tennis Court Oath was because they were locked out of their meeting hall by the king, so they went to an indoor tennis court to take the oath.

    Storming of the Bastille

    In 1789 on July 14th French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille and destroyed it. They did this to show that they wouldn't stand for the cruel government rulers. This was another step towards the French revolution.

    Reign of Terror

    The reign of terror was a horrible time in the French revolution where there were tons of public executions. This resulted in tens of thousands of people dying by guillotines, hangings, and other executions. These massacres lasted for almost an entire year.
