Took over the Toltecs, was an alliance starting with the Mexica. Settled in the middle of Lake Texcoco and build agriculture around that island. Began to conquer many to spread their power without even a centralized bureaucracy. Warriors formed a council to elect rulers, offices and establish policies. Skilled artisans were prestigous and some monopolies were given to traders from the government. Bloodletting still common and women revered for bearing children.

John Cabot leads, explored Newfoundland but England is too busy with Ireland to care. 1560 gets interested in the Northwest Passage. Sir Walter Raleigh gets a charter to colonize and establishes Virginia, which becomes the lost colony and then Jamestown becomes the first permanent settlement.
