    Alexander the Great was born in July, 356 BC, in Pella, Greece. Hi was the son of king Philip II and Olympias.

    After Alexander finishes his studies, he becomes part of his father's army. When this happens Philip II had conquered almost all Greek city-states and wanted to conquer Persia.

    King Philip conquers Greece and two years later he is assassinated by one of his body guards meaning that now Alexander became the king.

    Alexander goal was to beat the King of Persian called Darius and to control the Persian Empire.Darius thought that Alexander and his soldiers weren’t much of an opponent so he sent other generals to fight and at the end Alexander did won.

    Alexander attacks Darius in Issus. Using his phalanx formation he won the fight and after, King Darius escaped, Alexander not being able to capture him and instead he captured Darius family not being able to take over Persia.

    After Alexander refused to sign a peace treaty, Darius only option was to fight to get back his family. As the fight went on Darius fled but then died as a coward and at last Alexander won and became king of Persia.

    After Persia, Alexander conquers Egypt. There he created a city called Alexandria and was proclaimed the son of the god Zeus-Ammon

    After conquering Persian, Alexander went east, conquering more land. He founded many cities and named them all Alexandria. He married a Persian woman named Roxanne that was Darius III’s daughter. He did this to secure his position over the Persians.

    Alexander died at the age of 32 meaning that in 12 years he conquered a lot of land. What happened was that as Alexander and his army crossed the Indus valley and when they did, Alexander’s soldiers wanted to go back home and in their journey home Alexander died of sickness in Iraq.

    After Alexander’s death, his empire was separated into 3 generals: Antigonus that got control of Macedonia and Greece, Ptolemy that got control of Egypt, Selucus that got control of the Persia empire.

    Alexander’s Legacy
    Alexander treated the people he conquered with respect and let them to keep their customs. He also incorporated some of the customs to his culture.Because of this he created a culture called the Hellenistic culture, which consists of a lot of cultures blended together.
