  • Chinese Nationalists oust the last Qing emperor, Puyi

    The Chinese Nationalists came together to form the Kuomingtang, or Nationalists Party. The leader of this party was Sun Yixian. In 1911, the Revolutionary Alliance, a forerunner of the Kuomingtang, succedded in overthrowing the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty had ruled China since 1644
  • World War I begins as Austria declares war of Serbia

    As the Ottoman Empire collasped, new nations emerged such as Bosina and Herzegovnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, and Romania. Since Serbia was mostly Slavic, they wanted to rule Bosnia and Herzegovnia. Austria, knowing of their plan, annexed this new nation. When Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie visted Sarajevo, they were shot by a 19 year old named Gavilo Princip.
