In 1830, the Native American tribes were forced to leave their home lands in the southeastern US, and relocate to the west. They were forced to march by soldiers from the government. Due to lack of supplies, disease and exhaustion, thousands of natives died along this trail. -

In the mid 1910s there was an overproduction of citrus fruits in California. The growers of the citrus could juice their oranges, pasteurize them for longer storage and then ship the juice to the big cities. -
