    An Lushan was an ex Tang general. The population of China declined by up to 36 million and the rebellion lasted the reign of three TAng emperors.

    The Song moved to South China because of preassure from nothern nomadic tribes and ruled until 1279. They were than taken over the Mongolic Jin Dynasty.

    The last emperor od the Tang dynasty is overthrown which signifies the end of the Tang dynasty and the beggining of the 5 dynasties. The Equal Field System deterriorated and taxes increases. He was overthrown because he was unable to control the rebellions.

    FIrst emperor of the Song Dynasty. Had a good reputation of being honest and effective. He started out as a military officer and fought hs way up. He used the same type of rule as the Tang. He is known as the most effective emperor in the Song dynasty.

    Tang Law codeThe Tang Dynast was one of the largest of all in geographical extnt. Many roads were built during this time period and the Equal-Field System was used also. It had a really big bureaucracy and used the Confucian School to educate it's officials.

    Song Dynasty

    The Song Dynasty followed many of the principles used by the Tang Dynasty. They used the Confucian School to prepare its scholars for the Civil Service examination. They built roads and improved trade. They increased the production of rice and most of their agriculture was now happening in the south.

    Period of Five Dynasties

    The Five Dynasties were five smaller regional kingsoms tha competed for power after the fall of the Tang Dynasty and until the rise of the Song dynasty. They never lasted long in power as the mandate of heaven was fast-switching between them, because of this they didn't have a big impact on Chinese hisotory.
